Guru Ka Langar is a Sikh institution dating back to the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the 15th century. All people of all backgrounds, ethnicity and status are encouraged to sit on the same level, and eat a simple traditional meal, prepared and served entirely by volunteers. It provides not just free food, but an uplifting and spiritual experience on a large scale. This embodies the Sikh values of community generosity, intense volunteering, selflessness, and most of all equality of all humankind.

NEWS:

With Divine Blessings, the word of Guru Ka Langar at University College London has reached the birthplace of the founder of the Sikh faith Guru Nanak Dev Ji, in Sri Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. The sevadaars at Sri Nankana Sahib were elated to hear about this event and wrote a personal message to everyone involved which you can read here.
